Calder Highway Speed Detection

Axent Global has recently installed and commissioned a new Speed Detection System along the Calder Hwy near Diggers Rest. The system uses the latest radar technologies to accurately relay the speed of an oncoming vehicle which then gets displayed on highly visible LED boards on the foot of a bridge.

Each lane has its own radar and electronic display which means that both lanes of the highway can display speeds simultaneously. The system will display speeds ranging from 20 to 117km/h. For speeds above the threshold, a `Too Fast` or `Slow Down` message will appear.

The displays use the highest quality LEDs for visibility in all weather conditions while the radar is able to detect moving vehicles all times of the day, both day and night.

The system was implemented to quall the concerns of police and local residents regarding the trend of high speeds from motorists along that stretch of road. As with all previous Axent speed detection installations the speed and accident rates are expected to drop significantly.
