Westgate Bridge VSLS
Axent in conjunction with Poltech International P.L. was recently awarded the prestigious contract for the design, manufacture, supply and installation of the variable speed limit system and speed cameras on the Westgate Bridge.
This system is based on the existing systems now used on the Western Ring Road and will incorporate approximately 20 VSLS signs and banks of speed cameras. The primary concern of VicRoads was to be able to automatically change the speed limit on the freeway based on the wind speed which is an ongoing safety concern.

Axent's system will automatically set the speed on the signs according to the velocity of the wind speed recorded on the bridge at pre-determined intervals. These speed limits will then be enforced by the cameras on both in-bound and out-bound directions.
The system is was completed in August 2003. For more information, please visit the contact page on this site.
